Hypoallergenic Metals

Gold Alloys (e.g., 14k Gold)

Pure gold is soft and malleable, so it's often alloyed with other metals to enhance its strength and durability for jewelry making. Alloys like 14k gold, which combines gold with metals such as copper, zinc, and sometimes nickel, are designed to be more durable while retaining a hypoallergenic profile. The key is in the alloy composition; higher gold content and careful selection of alloy metals can minimize allergic reactions.

Sterling Silver

Sterling silver, an alloy made of 92.5% silver and 7.5% other metals, typically copper, offers a balance between the beauty of silver and the durability needed for daily wear. While pure silver is hypoallergenic, the copper content in sterling silver can sometimes cause reactions for very sensitive individuals. High-quality sterling silver, however, is generally well-tolerated, and pieces coated with rhodium can further reduce the risk of allergies.

Niobium

This metal is a newer choice in the hypoallergenic jewelry market, praised for its non-reactive nature. Niobium is excellent for those with severe allergies or skin sensitivities, and its ability to be anodized creates a spectrum of vibrant, eye-catching colors.
